Natural Stone Cleaning in San Diego

Cleaning, polishing, repair, restoration, sanitizing, sealing and stain removal for marble, granite, travertine, limestone, slate, flagstone, terrazzo and pavers, indoors and out.

Quick answer

How Is Natural Stone Cleaned Professionally?

Natural stone is cleaned by first identifying the stone, then choosing products, water temperature and pressure that clean it without harm. We can use hot or cold water at a range of pressures, polish with wet sanding and diamond abrasives, and seal porous stone with non-toxic sealers. Every stone is different, so the method is chosen for yours.

Why it matters

Why Stone Care Gets Confusing

Natural stone is one of the most durable and distinctive materials for floors, walls, countertops, patios, pathways and exterior cladding, and it lasts when it is cared for properly.

Knowing how to care for it is harder. There are countless stone care products, conflicting advice from different "experts", and stone is often sold under trade names that do not tell you what it really is. Using the wrong cleaner can etch, dull or stain it.

We take that guesswork away. Whatever stone you have, we identify it, clean it with the right method and explain how to look after it between visits. We work with flagstone, granite, limestone, marble, pavers, slate, terrazzo and travertine, among others.

Our process

How We Clean and Care for Natural Stone

Every stone is different, so each job starts with identifying the stone and ends with advice on caring for it.

01

Identify the stone

Stone is often sold under trade names, so we identify what you really have before choosing products.

02

Set the method

Hot or cold water and the right pressure are chosen for the stone, indoors or out.

03

Clean & treat stains

Soil and stains are removed with materials that will not damage the stone.

04

Polish & repair

Wet sanding with diamond and nano abrasives removes scratches without dust; chips and cracks are repaired.

05

Seal & advise

Porous stone is sealed with non-toxic sealers, and we explain how to care for it between visits.

Sealing natural stone

Why Porous Stone Should Be Sealed

Porous natural stone should be sealed to reduce how much moisture gets in. That makes it easier to clean and lowers the chance of stains.

We use high-quality, non-toxic stone sealers, including options that enhance and preserve the color of the stone. Some sealers can also improve slip resistance on stone floors.

Sealing does not make stone stain-proof. It slows absorption so there is time to wipe up spills before they cause damage, and it works best on stone that has been thoroughly cleaned and allowed to dry.

How Common Stones Differ

Knowing what you have decides the cleaner, the pad and the sealer.

Common questions

Natural Stone Cleaning FAQs

What types of natural stone do you clean?

Flagstone, granite, limestone, marble, pavers, slate, terrazzo and travertine, along with onyx, quartzite, sandstone, soapstone and more, indoors and outdoors.

Is polishing messy?

No. We polish with wet sanding methods using diamond and nano abrasive compounds, and the process is dustless.

Should all natural stone be sealed?

Porous natural stone should be sealed to reduce moisture absorption, which makes it easier to clean and lowers the chance of staining. We use non-toxic sealers, including color-enhancing options.

Can damaged stone be restored instead of replaced?

Often, yes. We examine the stone and plan a restoration or repair before you decide to replace it, and some chips and cracks can be repaired with near-invisible fixes.

Can I remove stone stains myself?

There is a lot of DIY advice, but the wrong product can damage stone. We know which materials and methods remove each kind of stain safely.
